The Guadalajara International Book Fair has set aside a special area where children ages three to twelve can take part in recreational readings and activities in the workshop and in the Children’s and Young Adult Writers Salon. Here the children can watch certain performances and also develop a relationship with the books that are in exhibition in the publishing area and the thematic reading rooms.
Since its inauguration, FIL niños has become the perfect platform for the creation and discovery of language and writing. Our goal is to promote reading as a source of pleasure and for the transmission of knowledge. The relaxed setting allows our youngest visitors to have their first contact with writers and writing. They are encouraged here to make contact with this world and perhaps for the first time to acquire a book.
Each year FIL niños develops a particular theme that attempts to transport visitors to a world where the unexpected and the emotive can be found.
Workshops
The main goal of the FIL niños workshops is to promote reading and writing through the contact with books. To cover both the interests and the skills of our visitors, we have developed three age levels: from three to six, from six to nine and from ten to twelve.
Children’s and Young Adult’s Writer Salon
In this venue, the writers and illustrators of children’s literature meet with our youngest visitors. Experiences are shared and the most recent titles are presented.
Performances
In the performance space, youngsters enjoy theater, music, storytellers, dancers, puppets, mimics and films from all over the world.
Thematic reading rooms
This is the perfect place to take a short rest and to browse through the hundreds of titles that are on display for our visitors.
