Guest of Honor
Being the Guest of Honor at FIL means access to one of the most important showcases of culture in Latin America. Through literary readings, theater, dance, fine arts, and film productions, the Guest of Honor reinforces its bonds with the region and presents the very best of its cultural production to a discerning and enthusiastic audience.
The most important activities of the Guest of Honor happen within the fairgrounds, where the literary events take place. Every night during FIL, a free concert is given before an audience of up to seven thousand. The presence of the Guest of Honor also extends to museums, cultural centers and art galleries throughout the city, turning a celebration of writing into a feast of culture in many varied settings, and attracting a diverse audience.
The agreement for the participation
of the guest of honor, signed by the guest's Government,
allows a delegation of writers, publishers, researchers,
and artists to become the spokespersons of their native
culture in Guadalajara, creating a bridge for an exchange
of the highest quality and establishing the foundations
for closer and stronger bonds.
