Guest of Honor
Being the Guest of Honor at FIL gives access to one of the most important cultural showcases in Latin America. Through literature, theater, dance, fine arts, and films, the Guest of Honor reinforces its bonds with the region and presents the very best of its cultural production to a discerning and enthusiastic audience.
The most important activities of the Guest of Honor happen within the fairgrounds, where the literary events take place. Each of FIL’s 9 nights offers a free concert for an average audience of seven thousand people. The presence of the Guest of Honor also extends to museums, cultural centers and art galleries throughout the city, turning a celebration of writing into a celebration of culture in many varied settings, attracting a diverse audience.
The agreement for the participation of the guest of honor, signed by the guest's Government, allows a delegation of writers, publishers, researchers, and artists to become the spokespersons of their native culture, creating a bridge for an exchange of the highest quality and establishing the foundations for closer and stronger bonds.
