  GUEST OF HONOR   ITALY

Italy, Guest of Honor

Italy's participation as the Guest of Honor at the Guadalajara International Book Fair will be an opportunity to get to know this modern and creative country; despite its rich traditional roots in history, art and civilization, it is a technologically, innovative society with a contemporary European spirit.

The Italian delegation to FIL Guadalajara will demonstrate Italy's strong commitment to art and literature and the on-going interplay between history and modernity, the past and the future. An important focus of this participation will be the writer Italo Calvino, whose book, Invisible Cities, will serve as the thematic guide to understanding the Italian character.

Guadalajara will have the opportunity to appreciate the landscape of Italian culture through its literature, social sciences, music, dance, theater, photography, sculpture, art and gastronomy. In this way we will see the role that innovation has played in distinguishing Italy from the league of nations.
