During the past 21 years, FIL has come to be recognized as a premier event both nationally and internationally. Publishers worldwide look upon FIL as the most important Spanish-language book event, thanks to its meetings, exchanges and the business deals that take place during it. 17,240 book professionals from 40 countries, 1,674 publishing houses and 559,271 visitors came to FIL 2007.
Since it is the most important venue in the world for promoting Spanish-language books, FIL is a cultural and academic meeting place, a venue where books and reading occupy a place of honor. Among the most important FIL events are the Guest of Honor Program, which brings the honoree's cultural production to FIL visitors. Italy will be the 2008 Guest of Honor, and it will be bringing to Guadalajara an illustrious literary delegation as well as excellent examples of its art, music and cuisine.
FIL's sponsorship packages have been designed so that the participating companies will be able to take full advertising advantage to promote its products and its image to the more than half a million attending visitors and the 455 media companies (press, radio and television) from 16 countries that cover FIL activities.
