Isabel de Polanco International Essay Award

Created by Fundación Santillana, in collaboration with the Guadalajara International Book Fair, this award seeks to promote the essay as a genre for contemporary historical reflection. Endowed with $100,000 US dollars, the 2010 edition will be dedicated to the Spanish language, its unity and its diversity, its history, present and future, its relationship with other languages or its literary, cultural, economic potentials, and so on. The jury shall consist of five prominent members of the cultural world, whose indisputable decision will be announced in October of 2010 in Guadalajara.

 

Second Latin American Competition of Illustrated Book-Album and Fiction for Children and Youth: Inventions 2010

As a way of encouraging artistic creation and reading, Fundación Telmex, Nostra Ediciones and A Leer/IBBY Mexico, in collaboration with the Guadalajara International Book Fair, invite to participate in Inventions, the Second Latin American Competition of Illustrated Book-Album and Fiction for Children and Youth. This competition —which awards $10,000 US dollars to the winners of its two categories: Illustrated Book-Album and Narrative— is open to writers and illustrators born in any country who present an unpublished work in Spanish aimed to any age group between the ages of four and seventeen years.

 


 National Bookstore Prize

Created by the Institute of Professional Development for Booksellers (Indeli), in collaboration with the Guadalajara International Book Fair, this award aims to support and encourage Mexican bookstores to renovate and be more competitive. The selected renovation project will be awarded $120,000 pesos for the purpose of implementing the project.

 

 First Ibero-American Illustration Catalog

In order to create a network that promotes the work of illustrators of children and young people books in Ibero-America, the Guadalajara International Book Fair, SM Foundation and El Ilustradero created the contest for the  First Ibero-American Illustration Catalog. The first place will be awarded an amount of US $ 3.000. Other 30 selected works will be exhibited at Guadalajara International Book Fair. In addition, the illustrators will be able to work on an illustrated book with Ediciones SM.


SM Ibero-American Award for Literature for Children and Young People

SM Ibero-American Award for Literature for Children and Young People was launched in 2005, during the Ibero-American Year of Reading, in order to promote the literature for children and young people throughout Ibero- America. The aim of this award is to recognize authors who have developed their literary career in the field of children and youth. Endowed with $30,000 US dollars, it is awarded each year during the Guadalajara International Book Fair.


Ink & Whisky Literary Invitation

An initiative of Dewar's Scotch Whisky, in collaboration with Ediciones Urano and the Guadalajara International Book Fair, the Ink & Whisky Literary Invitation’s main goals are the promotion of literature among the new generations and the creation of short stories around the culture of whisky.
