International Librarian Symposium
Inclusive Libraries: Gender, Equity, and Diversity
Libraries, in alignment with the importance of promoting, respecting, protecting, and guaranteeing human rights, should foster — through their services and informational resources — environments free from violence that enable gender equity in society.
Libraries play a significant role in advancing gender equality, diversity, and inclusion by providing access to information, creating spaces that encourage exploration and understanding of various communities, and taking actions to prevent the perpetuation of gender roles and stereotypes in their service to users.
In this context, the XXXVIII International Colloquium of Librarians, to be held on December 2, 3, and 4, 2024, as part of the Guadalajara International Book Fair, will focus on the theme "Inclusive Libraries: Gender, Equity, and Diversity." This colloquium will explore the relationship between libraries and gender from academic, library science, publishing, and literary perspectives, as well as the ways in which libraries can be involved.
The Colloquium will bring together information professionals and those interested in the topic to share experiences, identify needs, and discuss approaches and strategies related to gender, equity, inclusion, and diversity, aimed at the continuous development of libraries, librarians, users, and information.
