Annual International Booksellers Forum
Cities, Books, and Bookstores: How Our Spaces Are Lived and Transformed
The International Booksellers Forum of the Carlos Fuentes Bookstore and the Guadalajara International Book Fair was held for the first time in 2019 and having gone through a pandemic is now celebrating its sixth edition. Over these years, it has fostered shared learning, partnerships, and experiences that have made this event one of the most important spaces for dialogue about bookstores in Latin America.
This year, we aim to reflect on the relationship between cities and bookstores the spaces and spatial dynamics that connect them. The shifts in scale, the rhythms, the peculiarities we can find in every corner or on every book spine along a shelf. It is an endless exercise, yet one that remains deeply stimulating and thought-provoking.
This annual gathering will take place from November 30 to December 2, 2025, as part of the professional program of FIL Guadalajara, and will feature panel discussions, lectures, workshops, and networking opportunities.

Shall we talk about sustainability?
Every day, the need to move toward a world that is more environmentally sustainable, socially just, and transparent in all decision-making processes becomes clearer. Bookstores, given their significant cultural influence, should be at the forefront of meeting these criteria. This workshop, drawing on the work carried out at La Central bookstore, aims to share and discuss the topics within these three areas that matter most to us and where bookstores can act most effectively. Together, we can establish how to work toward this ethical commitment and how to benefit from it.
