Biography
She was born in Toya, La Pampa, Argentina, in 1920. She died on August 15, 1999, in Buenos Aires. She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of Buenos Aires. With a grant from the National Arts Fund and the government of Italy, she pursued studies in Europe. She was awarded the Grand Prize of Honour of the Argentine Foundation for Poetry in 1972; first municipal prize for prose, 1974 and 1976; second Regional Prize of Honour of the National Arts Fund, 1980; and second National Prize for Poetry for Canto a Berenice, 1983. She collaborated in Sur, Canto, La Nación, La Gaceta de Tucumán, Papeles de Buenos Aires, Cuadernos Americanos de México, Cuadernos de ParÃs, and other publications. In 1984, Páginas de Olga Orozco, an anthology of work selected by the author herself, was published.
