Hugo Setzer

Industrial Engineer from UNAM and has a Master's Degree in Business Management from the Pan American Institute of Senior Business Management, IPADE. He is, since 1990, general director of Editorial El Manual Moderno, one of the main publishers in the fields of medicine and psychology in Latin America. After many years of participation in the Executive Committee of the International Union of Editors (UIE / IPA), Hugo was vice president between 2017-2018 and president for the period 2019-2020.
He was on several occasions a member of the board of directors of the National Chamber of the Mexican Publishing Industry, CANIEM and vice president in the periods 2004-2006 and 2010-2013. He received the CANIEM Award for Guild Merit in 2009.
Founding president of the Mexican Center for the Protection and Promotion of Copyright, Collective Management Society, CeMPro from 1998 to 2002.
President of the committee for Latin America and the Caribbean and member of the board of directors of the International Federation of Reprographic Rights Organizations, IFRRO, from 2000 to 2002.
He was a member of the board of directors of the International Association of Scientific, Technical and Medical Editors, STM, from 1998 to 2004.
He currently participates in the advisory board of the Accessible Books Consortium of the World Intellectual Property Organization, WIPO, and in March 2022 he was elected president of the Board of Directors of the National Chamber of the Mexican Publishing Industry (CANIEM) for the 2022 biennium. 2024.

Daniel Benchimol

Daniel Benchimol is director of Proyecto451, a company that has been providing services for more than 10 years in consulting, training and digital strategy development to more than 250 publishers, bookstores and public and private organizations in Latin America and Spain. Among them, Editorial Planeta, Penguin Random House, Grupo MacMillan, Anagrama, Fondo de Cultura Económica, Siglo XXI Editores, CERLALC and Fundación Leer. He works in permanent collaboration with the main guilds and chambers in the region, such as the Argentine Book Chamber, the Colombian Book Chamber and the Madrid Bookstores Guild, among others. He directs the virtual training space Academia Proyecto451, which is attended by more than 1,400 industry professionals from all over Latin America. He participated as a speaker at the most relevant events and fairs in the industry, and is a professor at universities in Argentina and Spain.

Shiran Ben Abderrazak

Shiran Ben Abderrazak is a web3 entrepreneur and a freelance cultural advisor based in Brussels since April 2022. He has a Master's degree in Political Studies from the EHESS, Paris. In 2015, he published "Journal d'une Défaite," that have been adapted to stage by the Monte Carlo's Opera choreographer. He then returned to Tunisia, where he co-founded Dar Eyquem, an artist's residency. More than 160 artists benefited from it while he directed it. In 2017, he implemented the Creative Europe Program in Tunisia and created the Tunisian Desk on behalf of the EU Delegation. He has been the executive director of the Rambourg Foundation, one of the main foundations of the country, from 2018 until 2022. He is the co-founder of Culture Sans Filtre, an audio podcast dedicated to the contemporary art creation on the African Continent and the co-founder of Mono, the first "Digital art based on NFT" physical gallery in the heart of Tunis’ Medina. Today, he is helping the art and cultural world understanding the potentialities and benefits of the Web3 technology revolution through trainings and developing projects.

María Fernanda Mendoza

Graduated from the UNAM Law School with a specialty in Copyright.
She directed CEMPRO for 10 years, and contributed to the creation of the collective management entities of Panama and Costa Rica.
In the academic field, she has more than 20 years dedicated to teaching the subject, in Mexico and abroad.
She collaborated in the Spanish edition of the work “Buy and Sell Rights” by Lynette Owen, published by FCE.
She is currently a consultant for the International Authors Forum for Mexico and Latin America.

Carlos Azorín

Líder del Proyecto IP Key América Latina para la Oficina de Propiedad Intelectual de la Unión Europea (EUIPO). Carlos es Licenciado en Química, posee una maestría en Estudios Europeos y un Executive MBA. Tiene una amplia experiencia laboral en coordinación de proyectos en diversos campos, desde el sector farmacéutico hasta proyectos de cooperación internacional en materia de propiedad intelectual. Ha trabajado dirigiendo proyectos para la Oficina de Propiedad Intelectual de la Unión Europea (EUIPO) durante la última década, apoyando el aumento de la protección y aplicación de la propiedad intelectual en Europa y América Latina. También ha colaborado como profesor universitario en temas de administración de proyectos y gestión de la innovación.

Jorge Peydro Aznar

Ministro-Consejero y jefe de la Sección Económica-Comercial de la Delegación de la Unión Europea en México. Durante su administración, ha negociado y promocionado, entre otros, la protección de la propiedad intelectual, ha supervisado la modernización del tratado de libre comercio entre la UE y México, y ha impartido conferencias sobre las relaciones comerciales de la UE con América Latina. También ha publicado sobre los acuerdos internacionales para la protección de la propiedad intelectual, en particular en el marco de la OMC y de la OMPI.

Gabriel Nieto Enrigue

He is the Director of Subsidiary Rights for Latin America at Grupo Planeta, a division created in 2014, which is in charge of promoting Latin American authors worldwide, as well as negotiating translation and audiovisual adaptation agreements with platforms and production companies. This area has concluded agreements in more than 35 languages in 42 countries.

In 2022 he received the Rights Connection Award from the Sharjah Book Authority and in 2020 he was one of the 3 finalists in the Rights Professional category of the London Book Fair Excellence Awards. He was in charge of the launch and operation of the FIL Guadalajara Rights Hall from 2004 to 2006.

From 2005 to 2016 he was a contributor to the prestigious magazine Expansión and from 2011 to 2014 he worked in the Representative Office of the Ministry of Economy in Tokyo.

Gabriel obtained the Master's degree in International Cooperation Policy from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, the most international university in Japan, and obtained the Bachelor's degree in International Business and Administration from the Universidad Panamericana, Guadalajara Campus.

José Luis Caballero

He has a law degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He studied copyright at WIPO, in Geneva, Switzerland and at the International Law Institute of Georgetown University, in Washington, D.C. He completed the Master of Commercial Law (intellectual property) at Queen Mary & Westfield College, University of London. He is a specialist in intellectual and industrial property law from the Universidad Panamericana, Mexico.
He regularly writes articles and essays for publication in books, notebooks and specialized magazines on the subject. He is the author of the book “Copyright for Authors” published by the Fondo De Cultura Económica. Coordinator along with Dr. Martin Michaus of the book “Studies of Copyright and Industrial Property, tribute to Lic. José Luis Caballero Cárdenas” published in 2015 by Editorial Porrúa.
He is a professor of copyright in the master's degree in business law at the Universidad Panamericana, in the master's degree in intellectual property law at the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (Spain). He is a professor of the Specialty in Copyright at the Institute of Intellectual Property and Competition Law (IPIDEC Mexico).
He is a consultant to the World Intellectual Property Organization and a lecturer on copyright and related rights in the Development Cooperation Program for Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as in the Latin American Judges Training Program. and the Caribbean.
He has been a lawyer specializing in copyright and entertainment law for 38 years.

Quetzalli de la Concha Pichardo

She has a Law Degree with a specialty in Intellectual Property from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and has a Master's degree in Intellectual Property at the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO), Argentina headquarters. She is the first woman President of the Mexican Center for the Protection and Promotion of Copyright (CeMPro S.G.C) of which she is currently legal advisor and vice president.

André Breedt

Andre Breedt is Managing Director of Nielsen BookData, the market leader in metadata supply, discovery, sales measurement, consumer research and commerce solutions for the book industry internationally. The company is also responsible for the ISBN and SAN Agencies for the UK & Ireland.

Andre’s background is in book retail and market research. Since joining Nielsen BookData he has worked on projects ranging from analysing the Chinese book market to the expansion of the digital market. He has been influential in the launch of new Nielsen BookScan markets, including Brazil, Mexico and India and is currently leading expansion efforts globally.

In his role as MD, Andre has worked with numerous industry associations and bodies to develop standards and best practices, which are used internationally.

Dimiter Gantchev

Mr. DIMITER GANTCHEV is Deputy Director in the Copyright and Creative Industries Sector in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva. In his professional activities in WIPO Mr. Gantchev focuses on issues related to the economics of copyright and related rights, their contribution to economic development as well as the use of copyright by creators in their everyday activities. He has been in charge of research projects in WIPO on establishing methodologies for assessing the economic, social and cultural impact of copyright on the creative industries, estimating the impact of copyright piracy, providing evidence for policy making and enforcement policies on copyright as well as capacity-building and awareness building on creative industries.

Mr. Gantchev is a national of Bulgaria. He holds a PhD in economics from the Sofia University of National and World Economy and an MA in international relations from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. He is a Founding Member of the Bulgarian National Association on Intellectual Property. Mr. Gantchev has numerous publications on creative industries, intellectual property and foreign policy issues.

Gvantsa Jobava

Gvantsa Jobava is the Vice President of the International Publishers Association and the past president of Georgian Publishers and Booksellers Association. She holds the position of the Head of International Affairs at Intelekti Publishing, one of the leading publishing houses in Georgia. 
 
Since 2013, Gvantsa Jobava has been lobbying for the Georgian publishing industry, advocating Georgian publishers’ interests and rights. She has managed a number of projects to promote the Georgian publishing and literary industry at an international level, including Georgia’s “Guest of Honour” publishing program at the 2018 Frankfurt Book Fair. In addition, she is a member of Women Publishers’ International Network – PublisHer and PEN Georgia. In 2013-2022 she was the organizer of the Tbilisi International Book Festival.

Gvantsa Jobava is a poet and the translator of works of John Steinbeck, Chinua Achebe, Saul Bellow, John Lennon and others. She has also translated Anna Politkovskaya’s book Putin’s Russia and A Message from Ukraine by Volodymyr Zelensky into Georgian.

José Borghino

José Borghino has been Secretary General of the International Publishers Association, Geneva, since September 2015. He joined the IPA as Policy Director in 2013, and was in charge of policy development, organizing the Prix Voltaire (IPA’s Freedom to Publish Prize), and managing the IPA’s activities in the educational publishing sector, including the annual ‘What Works?’ conference and the Educational Publishers Forum. Before joining the IPA, José worked as Manager of Industry Representation at the Australian Publishers Association. He has been Executive Director of the Australian Society of Authors, a lecturer in literary journalism and creative industries at the University of Sydney, and editor of the online news magazine NewMatilda.com. José held senior positions at the Literature Board of the Australia Council and was the founding editor of EDITIONSReview.
